La notizia è sensazionale per due motivi: il primo è naturalmente il ritorno in Europa della produzione di telai, mentre il secondo è l'arrivo sul mercato di un nuovo materiale che si promette di unire la leggerezza e la rigidità del carbonio con la resistenza agli urti tipica dell'acciaio.
Lo stabilimento belga della REIN4CED ha una capacità produttiva di 20.000 telai all'anno. Produrre in Europa significa ridurre le emissioni di CO2 dovute al trasporto e diminuire allo stesso tempo i costi e i tempi di attesa per le consegne. Non dimentichiamoci poi l'impatto positivo a livello occupazionale.
Mi auguro che altri costruttori seguano l'esempio della REIN4CED e spero di poter annunciare presto il rientro della produzione in Europa di altri marchi famosi. Le primi bici Ghost con telai realizzati in Feather saranno disponibili presso i rivenditori in Germania, Spagna, Austria, Svizzera, Italia e Repubblica Ceca a partire dalla metà del 2020.

Accell Group shifts to automated production of carbon fiber bicycle frames in Belgium
Collaboration with Leuven based innovator REIN4CED
January 16th 2020 – Today Accell Group and REIN4CED announced their collaboration on the automated production of high-end carbon fiber bicycle frames for Accell. Mid 2020 the first hardtail mountain bikes with the new technology for Accell’s brand Ghost will be available in Germany, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Czech. REIN4CED set up a brand new automated manufacturing facility in Belgium.
With the production shift from Asia to Belgium, Accell benefits from significant logistic and sustainability advantages as well as increased supply chain flexibility and efficiency. Local manufacturing in Europe drastically reduces overseas shipments and storage, resulting in a positive contribution to CO2 emission, faster deliveries and cost savings.
