- The first race was held on March 17, 1990, and Jeff Matiasevich won on a Kawasaki
- This will be the 23nd time the gate will drop for a 450SX Class race in Sam Boyd Stadium
- First time winners: Jeff Matiasevich: 1990; Mike LaRocco: 1991; Jeff Emig: 1995
- Jeremy McGrath has won Las Vegas seven times, three times in the 250SX Class, four times in the 450SX Class
- From 1993-2002, there were 156 450SX Class races held and McGrath only missed one of them, which was Las Vegas in 1995
- In 1997, Doug Henry made history when he won the Las Vegas 450SX Class race on a Yamaha 4-stroke; that was the first time a 4-stroke won a 450SX Class race

- Ryan Villopoto won his third consecutive 450SX Class championship
- Villopoto now has 33 career wins
- Villopoto joins Bob Hannah, Jeremy McGrath, and Ricky Carmichael as riders to win three consecutive championships
- Davi Millsaps earned his 11th podium of the season with his fifth runner-up finish
- Millsaps is going for his second consecutive runner-up finish in the season point standings
- Ryan Dungey earned his 11th podium of the season with a third place finish; he is three points out of second place
- Trey Canard earned his seventh top five of the season and first since his third-place finish in Houston
- Justin Barcia continued his top-five streak with a fifth-place finish
- Barcia has nine consecutive top-five finishes
- Villopoto has 10 consecutive top-10 finishes
- Justin Brayton earned his 11th top ten of the season with a sixth place
- Josh Hill enjoyed the best finish of his season with a seventh place
- Hill has been inside the top 10 in his last three of four races
- After missing six races, Hill has worked his way into the top 15
- Weston Peick earned the best finish of his season, with a ninth place

- In 1995, this race became the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout
- In 2011, this race became the final race for both 250SX Class regions and the shootout was held after the crowing of the champions
- In the 17 Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shootout races, the Eastern Region has won nine times and the Western Region has won eight times
- Since the shootout started in 1995, a newly crowned 250SX Class Champion has gone on to win the shootout seven times: Windham (‘97); Carmichael (‘98); Ramsey (‘99); Stewart (‘04); Dungey (‘07), Pourcel (‘09); Weimer (‘10); Barcia (‘12)

Western Regional 250SX Class Recap: Salt Lake City
- Jason Anderson became the 90th 250SX Class winner after winning the first Main Event of his career; it was also his third podium of the season
- Points leader Ken Roczen failed to qualify for the Main Event, allowing Eli Tomac to move within five points of his lead
- Cole Seely earned his fourth podium finish of the season with a second place
- Martin Davalos earned his third podium of the season
- Malcolm Stewart tied the best finish of his career with a fourth place; it was his third top five of the season
- Christian Craig earned a season-best top-five finish with a fifth
Eastern Regional 250SX Class Recap: Minneapolis
- Marvin Musquin earned his fourth win of the season
- Wil Hahn, who leads the points by five points over Musquin, finished second in Minneapolis; he is the only 250SX Class rider to finish on the podium every race of the season
- Suzuki’s Blake Wharton earned his fifth podium of the season with a third place
- Gavin Faith, Lance Vincent, and Steven Clarke all earned their best finishes of the season with a fourth, sixth, and ninth place, respectively
- In 2004 and 2005, Kawasaki swept both regional championships. Honda is in position to do that for the second consecutive year with Wil Hahn and Eli Tomac
- KTM is also in position to sweep both regional championships with Roczen and Musquin
- Heading into the final 250SX Class races of the season, both points leaders have a five-point lead
