Dungey and Roczen finish 4th and 6th at Oakland Supercross

OAKLAND, CA – Red Bull KTM Factory riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen finished 4th and 6th respectively at the fourth round of the Monster Energy Supercross Series held at Oakland Coliseum.

Red Bull KTM Factory riders Ryan Dungey and Ken Roczen finished with a 4-6 result at the fourth round of the Monster Energy Supercross Series 450 class at Oakland Coliseum on Saturday night. They are now ranked 3-4 in the standings but share 75 points – just nine points off the leader.

On his KTM 450 SX-F Roczen got a great jump in the first heat and was third at the first corner. He battled with Ivan Tedesco for the first lap before moving around him into second, which he carried to the line for an easy qualification.

Dungey raced the second 450 SX heat. He got away well at fourth place and fought with Wil Hahn for third throughout the race. He eventually had to settle for fourth to transfer to the main event.

Dungey and Roczen were in sixth and ninth place when the gate dropped for the 450 SX main event. By the fourth lap, Dungey had moved up to fourth and Roczen was seventh. Dungey then went into battle with James Stewart to hang onto fourth and the two riders made several contacts but managed to stay up and charge forward. Stewart then made the pass before both he and Dungey got past Brayton.
Roczen inherited sixth place after Justin Barcia crashed and started to hunt down Brayton. He made his move with two laps to go but a small mistake by the German rider allowed Brayton back in. Up front, Dungey was closing in on Chad Reed for third on the final lap but ran out of time and had to settle for fourth place.

“Of course, I would have liked to finish on the podium", remarked Dungey. “The top three were riding really good tonight, and unfortunately, I wasn’t able to move up. I am looking forward to the next Anaheim race and hope to get closer to getting a win.”
