Husqvarna on the pace at the Bayliss Classic

The inaugural Troy Bayliss Classic took place at the Old Bar complex near Taree in NSW (Australia). The lead up to the event was at fever pitch with both local and international riders from multiple disciplines, looking forward to some excellent racing.

With an entry list reading like a who's who of current and past champions from Moto GP, World superbike, speedway, Moto Cross and Enduro formats, there was plenty of pride on the line with competitors in the "All Stars" looking to post strong results.

Patches of inclement weather delayed proceedings for several hours, with officials deeming the conditions unsafe. Upon commencement of the heats, Troy Bayliss and his Husqvarna TC 449 set the early standard with Bayliss taking out heat one in the first of three rounds leading up to the Super pole qualifier for the main event.

The highly anticipated Super pole didn't disappoint with riders giving it their all in the 2 lap (1st lap warm up and 2nd lap qualifying) format. Aussie ex pat Troy Herfoss qualified fastest ahead of Josh Waters with Troy Bayliss rounding out the top three heading into the main event.

The main event was touted as being the battle of Troy's with Bayliss and Herfoss tipped to battle it out for the win, however the Central Coasts Michael Kirkness backed up his early form to take a very close victory from Herfoss with Jarryd Oram just edging out Bayliss for third spot on the podium.

Troy Bayliss:
"I am thrilled with the event's success, we weren't sure what the day would bring given the weather but it turned out great. The number of spectators was outstanding and I am genuinely thrilled for the Taree motorcycle club who has worked so hard to bring the event together, I can't remember the Old Bar track ever looking so good.

Thanks again to Husqvarna and Paul Feeney Group, the TC 449 was on the pace all day. Paul, Joel and his team put together a great package.

Thanks again to all the competitors, the feedback has been great and I think everyone is looking forward to coming back next year."
